Smurf Village Builders is a West Auckland based building and renovation firm. With a reputation for quality and customer service we specialise in renovations, decks and maintenance/repairs. Nearly three decades building experience
James has been building since 1995 from a family of carpenters building in NZ since at least the 1880s. Hopefully one of the sons or grand sons will take over SVB as a sixth or seventh generation builders and continue the tradition.
A passionate advocate for training young builders, James always apprentices and many former apprentices either still working in Smurf Builders or working in their own businesses in other parts of Auckland.
Meet the team
Heddo - Project Manager
Usually at the first site visit you'll meet Heddo. It's his passion to understand and deliver the outcome you want. Heddo's super power is looking at an issue and envisaging how to solve it in a practical and in a timely fashion. Its his job to make sure things happen systematically and safely, while still getting the best result possible for the budget agreed.
Heddo loves travel be it to visit friends and family around NZ or on his boat with the misses, Rach. While the kids have nearly all flown the coup he still has a busy family life outside of work.
Hone - Lead Carpenter
A builder for a decade, Hone has a focused approach with an eye for detail making sure the end result is second to none. A stickler for building above and beyond the required minimum standard, there is no one better to be working and supervising others working on your home. Hone loves to talk about his job so has no problem keeping you informed on site about the progress made and the next steps in the project.
Hone has a proud tradition as a family of great league players and he is no exception. His four children definitely keep him and his partner Terina busy too.
Kevin - Lead Carpenter
Kevin is an experienced tradie with over three decades of building. He has mastered many trades, not just carpentry.
Kevin is well known in both the New Zealand and Australian Deaf Communities especially as a sportsperson. He is a Life member of Deaf Cricket Australia and a New Zealand Deaf Rugby coach to mention just a couple of his achievements. When he is not involved with Cricket or Rugby he is an avid swimmer and golfer.
